Biography

Dipti Jasrasaria is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Chicago. Her research focuses on theoretical chemistry, physical chemistry, and materials chemistry. The Jasrasaria Group works to understand the microscopic interactions of atoms and electrons in materials and how these interactions dictate macroscopic behaviors. Using theory and simulation, the group models complex materials, emphasizing accurate nuclear dynamics and the interplay of many-body interactions across multiple length and energy scales. They develop and employ various tools including electronic structure calculations, molecular dynamics simulations, and quantum dynamics techniques to study optoelectronic and transport phenomena in material systems under experimentally relevant conditions. The group's goal is to comprehend material properties and devise design principles to optimize material performance for applications in quantum information and energy conversion. To achieve these goals, the group collaborates closely with experimental teams to synthesize and characterize novel materials.
