Dr. Dirk Johnson

Biography

Dirk C. Johnson, MD, is a board-certified surgeon specializing in general surgery, trauma, and critical surgical care. He is the Medical Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Yale New Haven Hospital’s St. Raphael’s Campus. His clinical interests include acute care surgery, mechanical ventilation, and health care delivery systems. Dr. Johnson has authored multiple book chapters and articles focusing on bowel obstructions, bariatric surgery complications, and trauma. He completed his medical degree at Yale School of Medicine and has undergone rigorous training, including a fellowship in surgical critical care and residency in general surgery at esteemed institutions such as Vanderbilt University Medical Center and the University of Texas Medical Branch. In addition to his clinical work, he is actively involved in research concerning gastrointestinal tract issues and ventilation strategies, contributing significantly to his field.
