Biography

Professor Dirk Weuster-Botz conducts research in biochemical engineering with a focus on technical aspects of biochemical reaction applications and industrial biotechnology. His research areas emphasize the development of new digitalized bioreactor systems and biocatalytic processes aimed at the efficient utilization of microorganisms as cell factories for biological production of substances using carbon dioxide. He studied chemical engineering at the University of Karlsruhe and after receiving his doctorate, he became a professor at RWTH, Technical University Aachen, before joining the Technical University of Munich (TUM) as a full professor in biochemical engineering. Professor Weuster-Botz has published extensively, authoring over 250 scientific papers and holds several patents. Additionally, he is an elected member of the National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech) and actively serves on numerous advisory boards.
