Biography

Divakar Gupta, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist specializing in the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma and cataracts. He performs traditional glaucoma surgeries such as trabeculectomy and glaucoma tube shunts, in addition to the cutting-edge Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS). Dr. Gupta is trained in the latest surgical techniques, including laser-assisted cataract surgery, and offers premium intraocular lenses for cataract surgery patients who are interested in astigmatic correction and/or presbyopia correction. His clinical research interests include the early diagnosis of glaucoma and improving treatment outcomes, focusing on novel ways to use optical imaging technology to identify and manage glaucoma. Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Gupta is dedicated to teaching and lecturing trainees and eye care professionals in the Duke Eye Center community. In his spare time, he enjoys watching Duke basketball, playing tennis, and cooking.
