Dr. Divakaran Liginlal

Biography

Divakaran Liginlal is a Teaching Professor in Information Systems at Carnegie Mellon University's Heinz College. He holds a B.S. in Telecommunication Engineering from CET, an M.S. in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Science, and a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona. Before joining CMU, Liginlal taught for nine years at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he received the Mabel Chipman Award for Faculty Excellence in Teaching and the Lawrence J. Larson Grant for Innovation in Curriculum Design. In 2013, he received a teaching award at CMU's Qatar campus. Liginlal's research interests include information security, human-computer interaction, and decision support systems, with publications in notable journals such as the Journal of Management Information Systems, Communications of the ACM, and IEEE Transactions. He has worked with organizations such as Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, and Cisco Systems to support his teaching and research endeavors. Prior to his academic career, he was a scientist developing testing computers for the Indian Space Research Organization and worked as a software developer in Saudi Arabia.
