Dr. Divakaran Liginlal

Biography

Divakaran Liginlal is a Teaching Professor in the Information Systems department at Carnegie Mellon University. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunication Engineering from CET, a Master of Science in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Science, and a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona. Before joining Carnegie Mellon University, he taught at various U.S. institutions, including a nine-year tenure at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Liginlal has been recognized with the Mabel Chipman Award for Faculty Excellence in Teaching and the Lawrence J. Larson Grant for Innovation in Curriculum Design. He received a teaching award in 2013 from CMU's Qatar campus and was honored with the University of Arizona Foundation Award for Meritorious Teaching as a graduate student. His research interests encompass information security, human-computer interaction, and decision support systems, with publications in respected journals such as the Journal of Management Information Systems, Communications of the ACM, and IEEE Transactions. His teaching and research activities have been supported by prominent organizations including Microsoft Corporation, Hewlett Packard, and Cisco Systems. Prior to his academic career, he worked as a scientist with the Indian Space Research Organization and as a software developer in Saudi Arabia.
