Dr. Divya Sharma

Biography

Divya Sharma is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at York University. She holds a PhD in Computer Science with a specialization in Machine Learning from the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur. Her extensive postdoctoral fellowship was conducted in the Biostatistics Department at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, University Health Network (UHN). Dr. Sharma’s research program primarily focuses on developing bespoke deep learning models for integrative, high-dimensional modeling of multimodal big healthcare data, with a strong emphasis on clinical interpretability. She engages in interdisciplinary collaborations with UHN to address health outcomes related to liver disease, sepsis, cancer, and osteoarthritis. Her innovative modeling approaches have been published in prominent journals, including Lancet Digital Health and Bioinformatics, focusing on the development of robust machine learning models designed for personalized medicine and clinical deployability.
