Biography

DK Osseo-Asare is an associate professor of Architecture Engineering Design at Penn State University, cofounder and principal of Low Design Office, a design studio based in Austin, Texas, and Tema, Ghana. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Engineering Design and a Master of Architecture from Harvard University. His academic work focuses on humanitarian materials and integrated design processes, positioning him as a leader in the intersection of architecture and social justice. Osseo-Asare has worked on various urban design projects, including significant contributions to design initiatives in Ghana and Nigeria, and was a TED Global Fellow and Fulbright Scholar. He has successfully directed multiple academic initiatives and labs focused on innovative design and materials research. Among his recognition, he was named a winner of Architectural League New York's 2022 Emerging Voices competition. His ongoing research interests include the incorporation of marginal communities into designs for sustainable urban environments and the role of technology in regenerative architecture.
