Biography

Professor Dmitrij Frischman develops bioinformatics algorithms and software to support high-throughput biological research at the intersection of structural genomics and proteomics. His research focuses on the evolution and structural diversity of interactions of transmembrane proteins, as well as bioinformatics related to viruses, evolutionary analysis of mRNAs, and cancer informatics. Professor Frischman completed his studies in Biomedical Electronics at Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University in 1984, followed by a PhD in Biochemistry from the Russian Academy of Sciences in 1991. He was supported by a Humboldt Fellowship while pursuing postdoctoral research in the Biocomputing Department at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg from 1991 to 1996. Subsequently, he joined the Munich Information Center for Protein Sequences as a senior scientist and later became the Deputy Director of the Institute of Bioinformatics at the German Research Center for Health and Environment. In 1997, he co-founded Biomax Informatics AG and was appointed as a professor at the Technical University of Munich in 2003.
