Dr. Dodo Thampapillai

Biography

Dodo J. Thampapillai is an Honorary Professor at the School of Natural Sciences at Macquarie University, having previously held a Personal Chair in Environmental Economics. He is currently a Senior Fellow in the Executive Education unit at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore. With over 50 years of experience in teaching and practicing Environmental Economics, Dodo has held academic positions at the University of New England, the University of Wollongong, and the Australian National University. He has also served as a Visiting Professor at Simon Fraser University, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, and Christian Albrechts University of Kiel. He was recognized as an Eminent Environmental Economist by UNESCAP and is a member of the UNEP Expert Group on Environmental Economics. Throughout his career, Dodo has consulted for various government agencies in Australia and Singapore, as well as international organizations such as the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank. His work engages with critical issues in Environmental Economics, with a focus on innovative approaches to address global crises and environmental governance challenges.
