Professor Dr. Doeke Hekstra

Biography

Doeke Hekstra is an Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard University and also holds a position in Applied Physics at the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. His research focuses on understanding how the mechanical properties of proteins, including their dynamics and response to external forces, contribute to their function and shape protein evolution. He is actively involved in developing new and improved experimental and computational methods to study these aspects of protein behavior. Additionally, he works on improving and applying chemical imaging methods to understand how microbes change their physiological state.
