Dr. Domenique Van Gennip

Biography

Domenique van Gennip is a Casual Academic at the University of New South Wales, specializing in interaction design and human-centered research. She holds a Joint PhD in Interaction Design from the University of Technology Sydney and Eindhoven University of Technology, which she completed in 2018. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, followed by a Master's in Human-Technology Interaction where her thesis focused on social connectedness and the psychological influence mediated by heartbeat signals. In her current work, she explores interaction design challenges related to clean energy communities, emphasizing the role of technology in enabling individuals to manage energy generation, storage, and consumption. Domenique has also taught interaction design and design thinking, playing an integral role in developing design-oriented teaching and research across various faculties. Her research interests include augmented reality and its application in enhancing professional practice for technical workers, as well as the broader implications of technology in design leadership.
