Dr. Dominic Sisti

Biography

Dominic Sisti is an Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, specializing in Medical Ethics & Health Policy. He holds secondary appointments in the Department of Psychiatry and the Department of Philosophy. Sisti's research focuses on examining the ethics surrounding mental health care services and policies, particularly the ethical challenges of long-term psychiatric care for individuals with serious mental illness and in correctional mental health settings. His teaching includes a graduate seminar on ethics in behavioral health care, and he has been actively involved in organizing the ethics track for the American Psychiatric Association's Annual Meeting. His scholarship includes contributions to peer-reviewed journals such as JAMA, Psychiatric Services, and the Journal of Medical Ethics, as well as popular media outlets like the New York Inquirer and Slate. Sisti has edited several books on health and ethics, including works published by Georgetown University Press and MIT Press. He is a recipient of the Edmund Pellegrino Fellowship at the Center for Clinical Bioethics at Georgetown University and has received funding for his research from organizations such as the Thomas Scattergood Behavioral Health Foundation and the Greenwall Foundation.
