Dr. Dominic Sisti

Biography

Dominic Sisti is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy at the University of Pennsylvania. He directs the Scattergood Program for the Applied Ethics of Behavioral Health Care and holds secondary appointments in the Departments of Psychiatry and Philosophy. Sisti's research focuses on ethical policy challenges in mental health care and long-term psychiatric care for individuals with serious mental illness, as well as clinical ethics issues in correctional settings. Additionally, he explores ethical issues related to psychedelic research and its clinical applications. His writings have appeared in major medical bioethics journals including JAMA and the Hastings Center Report. Sisti's scholarship has been featured in media outlets such as the New York Times, NPR, and the Atlantic. He teaches graduate courses on clinical ethics, behavioral healthcare, eHealth, and biomedical ethics. Sisti received his bachelor's degree in biology from Villanova University, a master's degree in bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania, and a PhD in philosophy from Michigan State University. He is also a fellow at the Center for Clinical Bioethics at Georgetown University and the Hastings Center.
