Biography

Dominic Thibault is an electronic musician, composer, improviser, coder, and teacher, who is also a member of the duo Tout Croche and co-director of the Silent Howl label. His music intersects concrete music, noise, minimal techno, and soundscapes. As an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Music at the Université de Montréal, he teaches composition, music informatics, and studio techniques at the undergraduate level, while also supervising advanced students in sound creation and composition. He is the co-director of the LFO Lab and an active member of CIRMMT (Centre Interdisciplinary Research Music Media Technology) and OICRM (Observatoire interdisciplinaire de création et de recherche en musique). Thibault is involved in various academic and practical projects, focusing on human-machine interactions and their impact on musical creation. His works include electroacoustic compositions, audiovisual performances, and music software. He has published with several record labels and his research is funded by multiple organizations including the Fonds de Recherche du Québec and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
