Dr. Dominique Allen

Biography

Dominique Allen is a socio-legal scholar specializing in anti-discrimination law and equality. Utilizing doctrinal, comparative, and empirical methodologies, Dominique's research investigates various aspects of human rights and anti-discrimination legislation. In 2022, Dominique received the Dean’s Award for Equity, Diversity, and Social Inclusion Research Excellence. The following year, she was honored with the Dean's Commendation for Excellence in Research Engagement and Impact alongside Dr. Adriana Orifici. Dominique has been granted funding from the Australian Research Council to explore mechanisms for resolving human rights complaints, collaborating with Prof. Tamara Walsh from the University of Queensland. In 2022, she completed a significant research project analyzing women's experiences with Victoria's anti-discrimination laws, particularly amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Dominique publishes extensively in Australian and international law journals on topics such as sexual harassment, human rights, and alternative dispute resolution. As Director of Research for the Department of Business Law & Taxation at Monash Business School, she has played key roles in various academic and policy-oriented bodies, including advisory positions on anti-discrimination law. Dominique also has prior experience as a Senior Lecturer at Deakin Law School, where she taught contract law and workplace law. Her research interests align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on ensuring equality and addressing discrimination across various societal dimensions.
