Biography

Dominique Laporte is an Associate Professor in the Department of French, Spanish, and Italian at the University of Manitoba. He has been a member of this department since 1999 and has chaired the Graduate Studies Committee. Laporte's academic credentials include a PhD in French Literature from Laval University, completed in 1999, as well as a Master's and Bachelor’s degrees in the same field from the same institution. His research interests focus on 19th Century French theatre and novel, alongside French-Canadian history and culture, the history of French-Canadian press, and the French-speaking communities in Western Canada. Laporte is committed to engaging in graduate supervision at the Master’s and PhD levels, supporting students in their academic and professional development.
