Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Dominique Pioletti. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Dominique Pioletti received a Master in Physics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) in 1992 and pursued further education to obtain a PhD in biomechanics in 1997. His research focused on developing original constitutive laws accounting for viscoelasticity and large deformations. Pioletti spent several years as a post-doctoral fellow at UCSD, gaining expertise in cell and molecular biology, particularly interested in gene expression in bone cells in contact with orthopedic implants. Appointed as an Assistant Professor at EPFL in April 2006, he was subsequently promoted to Associate Professor in 2013. He directs the Laboratory of Biomechanical Orthopedics and his research areas include the biomechanics of musculoskeletal tissues, tissue engineering, mechano-transduction of bone, and the development of orthopedic implants and drug delivery systems. He is committed to advancing techniques and technologies that enhance patient care within the musculoskeletal system and is involved in fundamental research, applied research, and teaching.
