Domitilla Del Vecchio received her Ph.D. in Control Dynamical Systems from the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, and a Laurea degree in Electrical Engineering (Automation) from the University of Rome at Tor Vergata in 2005 and 1999, respectively. Her research group focuses on model-based analysis, design, and control of biomolecular networks in living cells, with the aim of engineering synthetic genetic circuits in living organisms that are robust, modular, and scalable. They target applications such as multiplexed biosensing in bacteria and controlling chromatin states in mammalian cells. Del Vecchio is the recipient of several awards, including the 2016 Bose Research Award from MIT, the Donald P. Eckman Award from the American Automatic Control Council in 2010, the NSF Career Award in 2007, and has been recognized as a Fellow of the International Federation of Automatic Control and IEEE.
