Biography

Donal Nolan is a Professor of Private Law at the University of Oxford and a Fellow and Tutor in Law at Worcester College, Oxford. He was educated at Brasenose College, Oxford, where he received his BA and BCL. Prior to joining Oxford, he was a Lecturer in Law at King's College London. He has taught a variety of subjects including tort law, contract law, international trade law, restitution, and commercial law. Donal has held visiting professor positions at several prestigious institutions including the University of Florida, National University of Singapore, University of Trento, Sichuan University, University of Auckland, and the University of Barcelona. He is a Professorial Fellow at the University of Melbourne and a founding member of the World Tort Law Society. He is an elected member of the American Law Institute and has served on the International Advisory Panel for ALI's Restatement of the Law Fourth, Property. His research primarily focuses on tort law, particularly negligence and the intersection of tort law with public law. Donal has authored and co-authored several influential texts and has contributed significantly to academic literature in contract law and tort law.
