Biography

Donald H. Beskind is a Professor of Practice at Duke Law School, where he directs and teaches the Trial Practice program and courses in Torts and Evidence. With a career that began in Denver as a trial lawyer, he has represented plaintiffs in civil cases and defendants in criminal cases. He began his academic career as a John S. Bradway Fellow at Duke Law School, completing his LLM. Beskind has served in various capacities at the law school, including assistant professor, associate professor, and director of the Clinical Program. In 1981, he returned to private practice, co-founding the law firm Beskind & Rudolf. He later joined Twiggs, Beskind, Strickland & Rabenau, where he practiced until 2010. He has also held positions as a Senior Lecturer in Law at Duke, directing the Trial Practice program and teaching Evidence on occasion. Beskind is a fellow of the International Society of Barristers and the American College of Trial Lawyers, having served on the Board of Governors for various North Carolina trial lawyer organizations. He is an active lecturer on evidentiary and trial skills across the United States and has trained solicitors and barristers in the United Kingdom. His educational background includes an AB in Sociology from George Washington University, a JD with honors from the University of Connecticut, and an LLM from Duke Law School.
