Biography

Donald Caleb Lawton is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Calgary with a distinguished career in geology and geophysics. He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy in Geology & Related from the University of Auckland in 1979 and earlier completed his Bachelor of Science in the same field in 1973. Lawton's research interests focus on the acquisition, processing, and interpretation of multicomponent seismic data, as well as seismic anisotropy. He has significantly contributed to integrated geophysical and geological studies in complex geological settings and has played an important role in advancing monitoring methods for geological storage of CO2. Throughout his academic career, Lawton has been recognized with several honors including the CMC WED funding in 2015 and an Honorary Membership with the Canadian Society of Exploration Geophysicists in 2014.
