Biography

Donald Soutar is a graphic designer and art director with 25 years of studio experience. He has worked for Touch in Edinburgh, leading major rebranding projects and creating comprehensive design systems. He has developed an in-depth understanding of branding with a focus on consistency, detail, and typography. Donald serves as a Teaching Fellow in Graphic Design, mentoring undergraduate students. He was appointed Programme Director for the BA (Hons) Graphic Design program. A graduate of the Edinburgh College of Art, he is also a co-organizer of the LongLunch design industry lecture series and a mentor for the Graphic Design Festival Scotland. For five years, he has been a member of the International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD) and has taken on the role of assessor for ISTD’s Student Assessment Scheme.
