Biography

Donna Ankerst performs statistical research in life sciences, focusing on clinical risk prediction tools based on multi-center clinical trials, observational studies, and electronic health records. She has created a validated online prostate cancer risk calculator that is internationally accessed and is currently developing deep learning algorithms for three-dimensional mammograms in collaboration with TUM Rechts der Isar hospital. Ankerst works on models examining the impacts of climate change on forest health outcomes in Bavaria in cooperation with the TUM School of Life Sciences. She studied mathematics at the University of Texas (UT), Austin, and completed her doctorate in statistics at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh. Ankerst has experience as a postdoctoral researcher at Harvard University and subsequently worked at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. In addition to her position at TUM, she currently holds a research professor appointment in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at UT Health Sciences Center in San Antonio.
