Dr. Donna Barker

Biography

Donna Barker is an Associate Professor Emeritus in the Teaching Stream at the University of Toronto. With over 18 years in university education, she has made significant contributions in the field of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy. Previously, Professor Barker worked for twenty years as a clinician in the health care system, where she held leadership roles in occupational therapy practice. Throughout her career, she has been actively involved in various committees that address healthcare and university environments, demonstrating extensive leadership experience. Professor Barker has also served as an Academic Appointee on the Board of Directors for the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario for six years, further highlighting her commitment to the educational and professional standards of the field. Her research interests primarily focus on the innovation of student accommodations in clinical education and the intersection of clinical education within private practice settings, emphasizing the importance of adaptive learning environments for students.
