Biography

Donna Koller is a Professor in the Department of Early Childhood Studies at Toronto Metropolitan University. She completed her graduate studies at the University of Missouri-Columbia and obtained her doctorate in child development and applied psychology from the University of Toronto. Her clinical experience includes working in children's hospitals across Canada, where she contributed her expertise in pediatric psychosocial care and children's rights in healthcare. Koller’s research examines children’s own experiences and perceptions, focusing on their participation rights in pediatrics and health care experiences. She is an adjunct scientist at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), working on children's rights perspectives in decision-making and social inclusion for children with disabilities and chronic medical conditions. Koller has been involved in various research projects funded by SSHRC, including studies on the implications of teamwork in pediatric operating rooms and fostering movement in children with diverse physical abilities. She is a member of the International Society for Social Pediatrics and Child Health (ISSOP) and advocates for children's right to belong and be included in society.
