Dr. Donna La Hood

Biography

Donna La Hood graduated from the School of Optometry at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia in 1983. She has worked at the Cornea Contact Lens Research Unit and the Institute of Eye Research, and has been involved with the Cooperative Research Centre for Eye Research Technology and the Vision Cooperative Research Centre. La Hood has been engaged with the Brien Holden Vision Institute in her academic pursuits. Her research interests have included contact lens design, fitting, comfort parameter evaluation, and corneal edema response assessment with new lens materials. Additionally, she has shown an interest in the commercialization of medical devices and regulatory compliance, becoming an internal auditor certified to ISO 13485. As an educator, she has contributed to optometric undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing education programs both domestically and internationally for 40 years, with a keen interest in ‘face-to-face’ and online program development. Currently, she holds a Senior Lecturer position at the School of Optometry and Vision Science at UNSW Sydney in an Education Focused role.
