Biography

Doreen Garner is a Brooklyn-based artist who was born in Philadelphia, PA. She has shown her work in various exhibitions, including 'White Man Pedestal' at Pioneer Works in 2017, 'Surrogate Skin: Biology Objects' at MoCADA in 2016, 'Ether Agony' at Antenna Gallery in New Orleans in 2016, 'SHINY RED PUMPING' at Vox Populi Gallery in 2015, and 'Something Feel' at Volta Art Fair in 2016. Garner completed several artist residencies, including the LMCC Workspace Program in 2015, Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2014, Abrons Art Center from 2015-2016, Pioneer Works in 2016, and the GAPP Residency at Toledo Museum of Art in 2016. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Glass from Tyler School of Art at Temple University and a Master of Fine Arts in Glass from the Rhode Island School of Design. Garner is also a recipient of the Toby Devan Lewis Award, Van Lier Fellowship Award, and Franklin Furnace Grant. Currently, she is a practicing sculptor and explores themes of inscribing flesh in her art.
