Biography

Dorian Haskard completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Oxford and subsequently attended Middlesex Hospital Medical School, leading to various clinical research positions in London. In 1987, he was awarded the Wellcome Trust Senior Clinical Fellowship at UMDS, Guy's Hospital, and later appointed as Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, Hammersmith Hospital, eventually becoming a Reader and then a Professor in 1995. Throughout his career at Imperial College London, he held leadership roles including the British Heart Foundation Sir John McMichael Chair in Cardiovascular Medicine and Head of several divisions within the National Heart and Lung Institute. His research primarily focuses on understanding the pathophysiology of inflammatory responses affecting the vascular system, particularly in areas such as vascular inflammation, atherosclerosis, and thrombosis. Haskard is a fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and has directly supervised numerous postdoctoral researchers and PhD students during his tenure. His notable roles include being Chairman of the Arthritis Research Campaign Fellowship Committee and the British Atherosclerosis Society, as well as serving as President of the International Society for Behçet’s Disease.
