Dorian Wiszniewski is a Senior Lecturer in Architectural Design Theory at the Edinburgh College of Art, University of Edinburgh. Since joining in 1996, he has taught both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in professionally accredited Architecture programmes. His work in practice includes award-winning projects such as the Fitzwilliam College Chapel in Cambridge and the Southwark Intermediate Concourse in London. He has published and exhibited nationally and internationally, winning the Royal Scottish Academy Gold Medal in Architecture in 2006 for the 'Water House' project in Crieff. His research interests intersect design practice with theoretical critique, particularly in the realms of architectural-philosophical overlaps, visuality, memory, and the socio-political limits of architecture. Currently, he is the Programme Director for various postgraduate programmes including PhD Design and Master of Architecture Integrated Pathway. Wiszniewski is also interested in applicants pursuing PhD studies that explore the intersection of design and philosophical practices, particularly those informed by thinkers like Levinas. His current doctoral students are engaged in exploring themes related to the complexities of urban landscapes and the broader ecological implications of architectural practices.
