Dr. Doris Kakuru

Biography

Doris Kakuru's interdisciplinary scholarship is situated at the intersection of Childhood Sociology and feminist thought. Her work adopts a social justice perspective centered on issues affecting children, youth, and families within their communities. In recent years, she has engaged in community-based, youth-led participatory research that is underpinned by intersectionality and post-colonial theories. Kakuru has a rich academic background with a PhD in Social Sciences from Wageningen University, an MPhil in Social Anthropology from the University of Bergen, and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Makerere University, Uganda.
