Biography

Receiving a Ph.D. from Duke University in 1998, Professor Armstrong specializes in Middle English Language and Literature, Arthurian Literature, Old English Language and Literature, and Gender Feminist Studies. She has taught at Centenary College of Louisiana and California State University, Long Beach before joining the Purdue English Department. Professor Armstrong has published extensively on Arthurian literature, focusing on key figures such as Malory and Caxton. Her work has been featured in various academic journals, including Arthuriana and Essays in Medieval Studies. She authored the book 'Gender and the Chivalric Community in Malory's Morte d'Arthur', published in 2003 by the University Press of Florida. A modern English translation of Malory's Morte Darthur was also released in 2009 by Parlor Press. Additionally, she serves as the editor-in-chief of the academic journal Arthuriana and has recently been appointed series editor for the New Middle Ages Arthurian & Courtly Culture series published by Palgrave Macmillan. Currently, she is working on a book project that studies the role of geography in shaping the politics of Malory's Morte Darthur in the fifteenth century.
