Professor Dr. Dörte Poelzig

Biography

Dörte Poelzig is a distinguished professor of Private Law and Commercial and Company Law at the University of Hamburg. She studied law at the Technical University of Dresden and the University of Konstanz, where she completed her doctorate in 2004 with a thesis on liability in international trade. Poelzig held academic positions at various prominent universities, including the University of Konstanz, Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg, and the University of Passau. She has been actively involved in legal research and publication, serving as managing editor of the Journal for Comparative Law and as a member of editorial boards for legal journals focusing on banking and capital market law. Since October 2021, she has been the chairholder at the University of Hamburg, contributing significantly to academic discussions and legal scholarship. Her research interests cover multiple areas, including Private Law, Banking Law, Capital Market Law, and the nuances of liability and regulations in commercial contexts.
