Biography

Professor Dorothy (Dot) Griffiths is an Emeritus Professor specializing in Human Resources Management at Imperial College London's Business School. Previously, she was the Deputy Dean and held the role of Provost’s Envoy for Gender Equality, showcasing her commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion. Since 2013, she has been an advocate for gender equity within the institution. In addition to her academic responsibilities, Griffiths also serves on the board of the Central North West London NHS Foundation Trust and was appointed to the Council of the University of Bath in 2019. Her academic background includes a BSc in Sociology from the University of London and an MSc in Sociology of Science and Technology from the University of Bath. With a career at Imperial College since 1969, Griffiths has consulted for various major international organizations, focusing on talent acquisition and talent development, alongside implementing quality measures in Human Resource performance. She has a long-term interest in promoting women's positions in management, science, and technology, and has spearheaded initiatives for the Athena SWAN scheme. As a founding editor of Feminist Review, she has contributed to multiple international publications and has acted as a consultant for various public and private sector organizations. In recognition of her contributions to higher education, she was elected a Fellow of the City & Guilds of London Institute and awarded the OBE for her services to higher education.
