Dr. Doug Brothwell

Biography

Doug Brothwell is a Professor at the College of Dentistry at the University of Saskatchewan, where he also served a five-year term as dean, which concluded in 2022. Prior to joining the University of Saskatchewan, he spent 20 years at the University of Manitoba, where he held the position of Associate Dean (Academic) for ten years and was the founding director of the UM Centre for Community Oral Health, which is Canada’s largest public dental health entity serving disadvantaged Canadians. He has also served as president of the Canadian Association of Public Health Dentistry and was a member and chair of the Canadian Dental Association's consumer products Seal Recognition program for over 20 years. He earned his DMD and BEd degrees from the University of Saskatchewan, his MSc and DDPH degrees from the University of Toronto, and a Certificate in Quality Management from the University of Manitoba. His teaching responsibilities and interests encompass epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, mental health, smoking cessation, and evidence-based decision-making.
