Biography

Douglas Buchanan (BSc ’81, MSc ’82, PhD ’86) is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Manitoba. He spent 16 years at IBM’s Thomas J. Watson Research Center, focusing on silicon technologies. He has over 30 patents and 100 peer-reviewed publications, along with numerous conference presentations. Since returning to Winnipeg in 2002, he has held various administrative roles, including Associate Dean - Research, and he has been involved in graduate programs, overseeing a significant number of students. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and offers consultancy in micro- and nanotechnology.
