Biography

Doug joined the Theology and Religious Studies department at the University of Glasgow in October 2005. He completed his PhD studies at New College, Edinburgh under Storrar David Fergusson. Doug holds an MA degree in Modern History and International Politics from the University of St Andrews and a BD from the University of Glasgow. He is an ordained minister, trained for ministry in the Church of Scotland, and has worked as a Church of Scotland minister for several years, including a six-year tenure in Hackney, East London, as a minister of the United Reformed Church. Additionally, Doug has contributed as a religious columnist, and he is an active hymnwriter and liturgist.
