Biography

Doug Hanna studies financial accounting and financial reporting. His research specifically looks at the role cash flows and accruals play in the interpretation of financial information by capital markets and financial analysts. He is currently a Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Hanna has previously been a full-time member of the Booth faculty from 1993 to 2004, where he taught Financial Accounting and Financial Analysis in the MBA program. He has also taught Financial Accounting in Executive MBA programs across Europe and Asia. In 2002, Hanna received the Hillel J. Einhorn Award for teaching in the Domestic Executive MBA program and again for his teaching in the European Executive MBA program. He earned a Ph.D. from Cornell University and holds a Master’s in Accounting along with a B.A. with Honors in Economics from the University of Waterloo in Canada. Hanna currently holds the Canadian CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation and previously held the Canadian CMA (Certified Management Accountant) designation.
