Biography

Douglas Kriner is The Clinton Rossiter Professor in American Institutions in the Department of Government at Cornell University. His research and teaching interests focus on American political institutions, the separation of powers, foreign policy, and health policy. He is the author of five books, including 'Myth of the Imperial Presidency: Public Opinion Checks on Unilateral Executive Action' published by the University of Chicago Press in 2020 and co-authored with Dino Christenson. His other works include 'Investigating the President: Congressional Checks on Presidential Power' (Princeton University Press, 2016) and 'The Particularistic President: Executive Branch Politics and Political Inequality' (Cambridge University Press, 2015) co-authored with Andrew Reeves. His scholarly work has garnered several accolades, including the D.B. Hardeman Prize and the Richard F. Fenno Jr. Award, as well as the Richard E. Neustadt Award for his book on the presidency. Additionally, his research has been published in significant academic journals such as the American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, and Journal of Politics. His health policy research appears in leading publications like the New England Journal of Medicine and Science Advances.
