Dr. Dowell Myers

Biography

Dowell Myers is a professor at the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, specializing in Public Policy and Sociology. He holds a Ph.D. in Urban Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which he obtained in 1981. Myers is an expert in urban growth and development, focusing on various aspects such as immigration, ethnic change, demographic trends, and housing and urban development. He has published widely referenced works, including 'Local Census Data: Portraits of Change' in 1992. His research interests include analyzing local census data, urban growth patterns, and the implications of demographic diversity on planning and policy. He has recently focused on the upward mobility of immigrants in Southern California and the projected impacts of the growing California population. His contributions have been featured in reputable journals such as the Journal of the American Planning Association, Demography, and the American Sociological Review.
