Dr. Drew Macdonald

Biography

Drew MacDonald holds a PhD in English Language and Literature from Queen’s University, an MA from the University of Victoria, and a BA from Wilfrid Laurier University. His research focuses on British Romanticism, particularly the literary contribution of the Victorian essayist Thomas De Quincey. MacDonald emphasizes an educational approach that fosters student independence and critical thinking, utilizing Universal Design for Learning principles and evidence-based pedagogical practices including active learning. Throughout his career, he has designed and delivered English writing courses at various institutions including Queen's University, Bishop's University, Seneca College, and George Brown College. His selected publications explore themes within the Romantic literary period, including addiction and the impact of war on literature. MacDonald is dedicated to creating environments where students can meet their learning outcomes and develop their writing skills effectively.
