Biography

Drew Thomson began his independent career as a Lecturer in Chemical Biology at the University of Glasgow in 2016. He completed his MChem degree at the University of Edinburgh before obtaining his PhD in supramolecular organic chemistry under the supervision of Professor David Leigh. Following a short postdoc in protein biophysics at Edinburgh with Dr. David Dryden, he moved to Bristol as a postdoctoral research fellow in Professor Dek Woolfson's lab, focusing on peptide design and synthesis. The Thomson research group explores the integration of diverse influences to understand and design peptides for chemical biology. His scholarly contributions are often in the areas of peptide synthesis and protein design, utilizing multidisciplinary approaches that include bioinformatics, computational modeling, and organic synthesis. The team is equipped with the necessary resources to synthesize, purify, and analyze peptides and is actively inviting discussions on potential collaborations and the implications of their research in addressing fundamental questions in peptide and protein interactions.
