Biography

Duncan P Lee received his BSc in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Bath in 2003 and his PhD in statistics applications in environmental epidemiology from the same university in 2007. He held a 6-month temporary lectureship and a 1-year research assistant position at the University of Bath before joining the University of Glasgow as a lecturer in statistics in September 2007. Lee has been a professor at the University of Glasgow since August 2018. His research interests focus on developing spatio-temporal statistical methods for use in epidemiology, predominantly in a Bayesian setting. This includes disease mapping and predicting air pollution concentrations, as well as investigating the effects of air pollution on human health. Lee's work allows public health officials to address critical policy questions regarding disease risk and health inequalities across different communities. He has led numerous research projects, including grants from the Economic and Social Research Council, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, and the Medical Research Council, all of which contribute significantly to understanding and predicting health impacts of air pollution. Lee is also a member of various advisory committees and has editorial roles in several academic journals.
