Biography

Duong completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in Oregon, United States with the highest distinction. He worked at Intel for several years as a Process/Equipment Engineer. Duong achieved a PhD at the Australian National University, where he developed perovskite-silicon tandem solar cells with an efficiency of 26.4%, an achievement that garnered significant media attention. He was awarded the PhD Thesis Award by the ACT Minister for Climate Change and Sustainability in 2017. Duong also won a competitive Australian Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics (ACAP) Postdoc Fellowship grant to further his research on high-efficiency perovskite-silicon tandem solar cells. His research interests have expanded to include solar hydrogen production and semiconductor gas sensors. His work on direct solar-to-hydrogen generation was recognized as one of the top 10 innovations at the Innovation Cool Earth Forum (ICEF) in 2020.
