Biography

Duxin Sun is the Associate Dean for Research and Charles R. Walgreen Jr. Professor of Pharmacy in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Michigan. He has a dual appointment in the Chemical Biology program and the Interdisciplinary Medicinal Chemistry program at the University of Michigan’s Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Sun's research focuses on drug development, including cancer nanomedicine and cancer vaccines. He is known for developing the STAR system, which aims to enhance drug development success by addressing the high failure rates of new drugs. His innovative work includes the design of albumin-based nanomedicines to improve the clinical efficacy of immuno-oncology drugs. Additionally, he has developed peptides and mRNA vaccines that enhance immune responses against cancer cells. Throughout his career, Dr. Sun has published over 280 papers, mentored numerous PhD students and postdoctoral fellows, and has been recognized as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists.
