Duyu Nie is a board-certified child neurologist and epileptologist at the Children’s Neurodevelopment Center (CNDC) affiliated with Brown University and Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Rhode Island. His clinical practice specializes in the diagnosis and management of complex neurological disorders, with a particular focus on epilepsy care, including pharmacologic therapies, dietary interventions, epilepsy surgery, and neuromodulation. Dr. Nie contributes to the Clinical Neurophysiology Epilepsy Fellowship programs at Brown Neurology and serves as an attending physician in the multidisciplinary epilepsy surgery program at Rhode Island Hospital. His research explores molecular network mechanisms underlying early-life epilepsies and their relation to neurodevelopmental disorders. Previous investigations have focused on mTOR pathway dysfunction in conditions such as autism and epilepsy, particularly in patients with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC). This work has been supported by Autism Speaks and the Manton Center for Orphan Disease Research at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Nie is currently engaged in biomarker discovery and precision-medicine approaches targeting childhood epileptic encephalopathies. He is actively involved in the American Epilepsy Society and serves on the editorial board of 'Translational Neuroscience.'
