Biography

J. Dwight Aplevich received a B.E. degree in Electrical Engineering Science from the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada, in 1964, and a PhD in Communications Electronics from Imperial College, London, U.K., in 1968. He is currently a Professor Emeritus at the University of Waterloo, where he previously served as a professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Throughout his career, Aplevich has held extended visiting positions at prestigious institutions including Imperial College London, Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse, Lund University, École Polytechnique de Montréal, University of Texas at Arlington, and the Vancouver Innovation Centre of the National Research Council. His research interests focus on the theory of implicit system models, system identification, computational aspects of control theory, and its applications. Aplevich is a Registered Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario.
