Biography

Dwight Deugo has strong ties to Carleton University, having received his Ph.D. and M.C.S. degrees from the School of Computer Science before joining the faculty in 1997. As an Associate Professor, his research encompasses various areas including Mobile Computing, Peer-to-Peer Computing, and Evolutionary Computation, particularly focusing on Genetic Algorithms and Programming Languages. He has extensively consulted on object-oriented languages, especially in relation to Java and Smalltalk, and is deeply involved in the development and optimization of network connections within peer-to-peer systems. Deugo's projects often utilize large-scale simulations to design and evaluate peer-to-peer protocols, while he also actively promotes Open Source software. In addition to his academic responsibilities, he is the Editor-In-Chief of Java Report and has served as Director of Java Services at Object People. He is also a cofounder and CEO of Espirity Inc., which provides innovative text messaging solutions for parking through iParked.ca, enabling users to pay for parking by sending text messages from their mobile phones.
