Biography

Dwight Deugo has extensive ties with Carleton University, having received both his Master’s and Ph.D. degrees from the School of Computer Science before joining the faculty in 1997. He has served as Editor-In-Chief of the Java Report and is the Director of Java Services at Object People. In addition to his academic role, Dr. Deugo is the CEO and co-founder of Espirity Inc., a service provider for iParked.ca, which offers a text messaging solution for parking payments. His research interests span mobile computing, peer-to-peer computing, evolutionary computation (including genetic algorithms and programming), as well as software patterns and programming languages. Dr. Deugo is particularly focused on the development of open source software solutions and has worked extensively on object-oriented language systems related to Java and Smalltalk. His previous initiatives include the creation of pattern search tools aimed at optimizing network connections within peer-to-peer systems using genetic algorithms.
