Biography

Dylan Jayatilaka completed a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Chemical Physics at The University of Western Australia and a PhD at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom, focusing on Theoretical Chemistry under the supervision of Nicholas Handy. After completing his studies, he worked as a National Research Council Research Fellow at NASA Ames Research Center and served as an Australian Research Council QE-II Research Fellow, later becoming a Senior Fellow of the Australian Research Council. Jayatilaka has held visiting researcher positions at prestigious institutions including École Nationale Supérieure, Université Henri Poincaré, the University of Bremen, and the University of Bern. He joined the University of Western Australia in 2001, where he is now a Senior Honorary Research Fellow. His research interests are primarily in the fields of quantum chemistry and crystallography, encompassing theoretical and computational aspects. He has contributed significantly to the development of methods for calculating molecular energy properties, X-ray and neutron diffraction techniques, and has collaborated on projects aimed at advancing quantum crystallography methods. His teaching responsibilities include coordinating courses in Chemistry Reactions and Chemistry Laboratory.
